14th National Voters Day commemorated by District Election Cell Namchi
Namchi, January 25 (IPR): The 14th National Voters Day was commemorated by District Election Cell Namchi today, in the presence of ADC Namchi Mr Anant Jain, Asst. Collector Namchi, Mr. Pulkit. SDM (HQ) Mr Gopal K Chettri. SDM Namchi Mr Saran D. Kalikotey, Special Guest Mr. Mingma D Lepcha, PWD Icon Mr Saran Pradhan and Mr Arjun Darjee, BLOs, Political Representatives, New Voters, and District officials.
ADC Namchi, in his address, traced the journey of National Voters Day since its inception in 2011. Emphasising its dedication to enlightening and instilling responsibility in new voters, he disclosed a significant voter count of approximately 1 lakh 10 thousand across 7 constituencies in the district. The provision of home voting for those above 80 and PWD voters, facilitated by ECI, was also highlighted.
Moreover, he shed light on the ongoing SVEEP Activities in the district and encouraged participation in the upcoming Cycling event on February 4th and urged the new voters to attend an EVM demonstration at DAC to familiarise themselves with the voting process.
Addressed the gathering, Mr Mingma D Lepcha urged the new voters to exercise their right wisely and fairly, emphasising their role as responsible citizens.
Furthermore, the National Voters’ Day Pledge was administered to the gathering by ADC Namchi.
The theme for National Voters Day for 2024 was “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure”.
A video message on National Voters Day was displayed by CEC Shri Rajiv Kumar.
Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) was distributed to the new voters and accolades were bestowed upon the Special Guest, BLO and the PWD Icon during the event.
