Namchi Mahatsov
It is a festival of Art, Culture and tradition celebrated in month of October which offers tourist a look into the cultural diversity of Sikkim. It is a celebration of dance & festivals, lifestyle & habit of various ethnic groups of Sikkim like Bhutia, Lepchas, Rai, Limboo, Newar etc.
The Mohatsav also promotes traditional skills and handicrafts like Thanka paintings, Choksis and Dens, coupled with ethnic Sikkimese cuisines like Shel-Roti, Wachipa, Gyakho, Chewra and others to name a few. Here one can have a glimpse of traditional Sikkimese costumes like Bakhu-Honju, Gada, Daura Sural & others.
The festival is celebrated on the Eco-Tourism philosophy of Sikkim where the rich cultural heritage is showcased with all its grandeur. Short duration tour programmes are conducted to tourist spots like Chamgoan Park, Handloom centre, Ngadak Monastry, Chemchey picnic spot and other places. Mountaineering, mountain biking, trekking and bird watching activities are also organised.

It is celebrated in the month of March at Maniram village.
Sakewa
Sakewa is one festival which is celebrated with great enthusiasm by all the Kirat Khambu Rai. It is also known as Bhumi Puja or Chandi Puja or Chandi Puja or land worshiping ceremony by others. It is generally celebrated by all the Kirat Khambu Rais especially in villages. It is celebrated in the month of May.
Rakey Mela
It is believed that Rakey Bhoot is a threat to the crops grown with so much handwork by the farmers. So the farmers burn an effigy of Rakey Bhoot to ward the evil spirit away. This event is celebrated with a Rakhey mela. It is celebrated in the month of July.
Maghe Sankranti
Maghe Sankrati is one of the most important festivals of the Nepali community, which has been in existence for centuries. This festival is held in the second week of January. This is the day when the Sun makes a transit from Dhana, Capricorn and enters Makar or Sagittarius, the third last sign of the Zodiac. This festival marks the beginning of the spring. It is celebrated in a grand manner at Jorethang with all the cultural events, games, sports, paragliding and is participated by all the communities.
Tendong Lho Rum Faat
This festival is celebrated in the month of August by the lepcha community. On this day the Lepcha community worships the Tendong Hill which is situated at South Sikkim.
Pang Lhabsol
This festival is quite unique to Sikkim. It was popularised by the third Chogyal of Sikkim, Chakdor Namgyal. In this festival the snowy range of Kachendsonga is worshipped for its unifying powers. This festival marks the signing of the treaty of brotherhood between the Lepcha and Bhutia when the local deities were invoked to witness the occasion. This festival is held on the 15th day of the 7th month around the end of August.
Kite Festival
This festival is celebrated at the place called Sadam during the month of December.
Chief Ministers Gold Cup Football Tournament
This football tournament is organised every year by SDFA generally in November at Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi, and is running successfully since 2005, attracting a host of good football teams from all over the country as well as international teams.
Ravangla Tourist Festival
A week long tourist festival at Cho-Dzo lake, just 10 minutes walk from Ravangla, is organized every year in April. The festival includes the cultural events of different communities of Sikkim, promotion of local artists and artesian, exhibition cum sale of handicrafts from Sikkim, other North Eastern states and Bhutan as well as a food festival held amidst the woods surrounding the lake. Also held are cultural, music and fashion shows. Adventure sports like mountain biking, horse riding and boating are also conducted as well as package tours to some of the tourist sites of the area.
