Namchi, 11th August: A vagabond women aged around 45yrs was brought to One Stop Centre (OSC), Jorethang South Sikkim by Jorethang police on 18th April 2020 during 1st phase of COVID pandemic.
While investigating, we found out that the women used to stay in the lane of Jorethang bazaar from past 2-3 years. She could only be able to tell her name and the state she belong as she speaks only telegu. After providing temporary shelter at OSC, Jorethang she has been shifted to Swadhar Greh (Mamtalaya), Gangtok for further stay until her legal guardian is traced out.
OSC, Jorethang gets in touch with the State Programme Manager (Women& Child Division) Telangana. She had a telephonic conversation with the women where the women mentioned some of the places of Jagtial District, Telangana. Soon intimation was sent to OSC,Jagtial and on 12.04.2021her family members came to OSC Jagtial with the details and the proofs of the women i.e voter card, ration card and family photographs.
According to her identity proof her name is “Ramagiri Sathamma”,46 years w/o Chandraiah bonafide residence of Gullakota,Jagtial District,Telangana and have two children. The survivor Ramagiri Sathamma was missing from her home from past 10years.The family member of survivor are willing to take care of her but due to financial problem, they cannot come to Sikkim to take her back.
With the consent and approval of District Collector (South) Shri.M Bharani Kumaar, repatriation of the survivor was carried out by Ms.Sangita Gurung, Centre Administrator and Ms. Binita Manger(MPW),One Stop Centre,Jorethang South Sikkim on 10th August 2021.
She has been handed over to her legal guardian on 10th August 2021 at around 8pm in presence of District Welfare Officer Mr. B Naresh, Women Commission Member Mrs. Rewati Rao and Centre Administrator OSC Mrs. Maneela of Jagtial District, Telangana at the office of One Stop Centre Jagtial.
