73rd REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION IN NAMCHI

Namchi, Jan 26 (IPR): The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the complex of District Administrative Centre, Namchi and subsequently at the auditorium Hall of Namchi Senior Secondary school, today. Minister of Buildings and Housing, and Transport Departments Mr Sanjeet Kharel graced the occasion as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Zilla Adhyaksha (Namchi) Mrs Tshering Dem Bhutia, Additional Political Secretary (Namchi) Ms Anjeeta Rajalim, DC (South) Mr M Bharani Kumar, ADC (Adm) Mr Anant Jain along with HoDs and officials from the district.
At the onset of the programme, the Chief Guest was accorded with the Guard of Honour, followed by unfurling of the tricolour and rendering of the National Anthem.
Thereafter, the Republic Day commemorative message of the Governor of Sikkim and the Chief Minister of Sikkim was read out by DC (Namchi) and ADM (Namchi), respectively.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest extended his warm greetings on the occasion of Republic day. He emphasised the significance of Republic Day and gratefully recalled the immortal sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and the Drafting Committee members by laying the Indian Constitution which grants us fundamental rights and enables us to live in a free democratic society. Further, he reiterated that the solemn sacrifices of the great leaders are a great source of inspiration for the citizen to work with greater responsibility. Hence, he urged the younger generation to imbibe and learn from the qualities of the sacrifice made by the great leaders towards the nation-building exercise.
The programme also observed two minutes of silence to mourn the demise of DSP (Namchi) Mr Roshan Gurung.
The event also witnessed patriotic songs and dances performed by the students.
On the occasion, the Namchi District Administration felicitated the eight outstanding employees working under various line departments for devotion and exemplary contributions towards their services. The names of the employees are as follows:

2. Lance Nk. Tika Ram Pradhan(Police Department)
3. ChildLine Coordinator Ms Pramika Kalikotey (Women and Child Development Department).
4. Dr Sudeep Pradhan (Health Department)
5. HDO Mrs Kalpana Shrestha(Horticulture Department)
6. VLW Mr Harka Bahadur Magar (Horticulture Department)
7. Mr Karma Tshering Lepcha (PHE Department)
8. Ms Khini Maya Pradhan (Food and Civil Supplies Department)
In addition, felicitation was also accorded to the Amardeep Youth Club, Namthang as the Best Youth Club by the Chief guest.
