Workshop On Jute Agro-Textiles As Soil Mulch Towards Soil And Water Conservation conducted at KVK , South Sikkim

Namchi, 18th February: “Workshop On Jute Agro-Textiles As Soil Mulch Towards Soil And Water Conservation” Organized by ICAR-NINFET (National Institute Of Natural Fibre Engineering And Technology) in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra was conducted at KVK , South Sikkim.
The program was conducted by Dr. Chewang Norbu Bhutia SMS (Animal Science) in the presence of Dr. Sanjoy Debnath, Principal Scientist And Nodal Officer NEH, ICAR – NINFET, Kolkata, Mr., H. Baite, Scientist ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata, Mr., I.P. Shivakoti Sr. Scientist And Head KVK, South, HDO Miss Saroja Tamang , FPO Members, Scientific, Technical And Administrative Staff of KVK South Sikkim and farmers from in and around Namthang block.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Mr. I.P Shivakoti after which He also briefed on activities of KVK South to the farmers and dignitaries’ present. Mr. Basant Tamang SMS Soil Science highlighted the “Aims And Objectives” of the programme. A brief lecture on activities of ICAR-NINFET was presented by Mr. H. Baite. A brief power point presentation on “Jute Agro-Textiles As Soil Mulch Towards Soil And Water Conservation” was made by Dr. Sanjoy Debnath. After the presentation the forum was opened for interactions between farmers and the scientists to discuss the new technology introduced to the farmers. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Karma Peden Kaleon Sms Agri Extension.
