District Tuberculosis Centre, Namchi observes World TB Day 2022

Namchi, 24 March (IPR): District Tuberculosis Centre,Namchi observed World TB Day at the conference Hall of District Hospital Namchi,today.
The theme of world TB Day 2022 is “Invest To End TB.Save Life” The theme focuses on the urgent need to invest resources to speed up the fight against TB.
Mrs.Sabitri Tamang, Vice Chairperson NMC. attended the program as the chief guest
Present amongst others were Dr. D.C. Sharma Chief Medical Officer, Dr .S.N.Adhikari DMS , Dr . Sarki Bhutia Principal Chief consultant, Dr.Ugyen Sherpa District Nodal cum Surveillance officer, Dr. Junita Yonzon DRCHO, Dr. Pratik Rasaily (MOTC), Dr. Anju Rai (DTO), Mr.Birkha Rai TB Champion, NGO and Students from D.I.E.T, Namchi.
Addressing the gathering Mrs.Sabitri Tamang highlighted about the significance of observing World TB day. She said that it is utmost importance to raise public awareness and understanding about one of the world’s deadliest infectious killers. She added that each day ,over 4100 people lose their lives to TB and close to 28000 people fall ill with this preventable and curable disease.
During the program Dr.Anju Rai (DTO) said that the Government has accorded high priority to eradicate Tuberculosis in India by 2025, five years ahead of the sustainable Development Goals target of 2030. She elaborated that the Government is committed to scale up access to free diagnosis through rapid molecular tests providing information on drug resistance, free treatment for all people with TB, with best quality drug and regimes, financial and nutritional support to patients.
The Program concluded with the distribution of prize to the winners of quiz competition and the distribution of Momento to the guests present
