Drug Awareness Programme at Yangang

Namchi, 26th May (IPR): A daylong awareness programme ‘Say No To Drugs’ was held at the auditorium of Yangang Senior Secondary School, today. Organized by Yangang Block Administrative Centre in collaboration with Social Welfare Department had Area In-charge Mr. R. K. Basnett as the Chief Guest. Present amongst others were Advisor to the Chief Minister Mr. Rohit Raj Maharaj, BDO (Yangang) Mr. Sushil Gurung , SHO (Yangang) Mr. C. K. Subba, Principal Yangang Senior Secondary School Mr. Pushpa Raj Dhungel, Resource Persons Mr. Primus Bhutia alongwith officials and students.
Chief Guest Mr. R. K. Basnett spoke about the aim of this awareness program which is to inform the youngsters about the harmful effects of drugs, and on how to curb this dependency.
Speaking, about the program Mr. Rohit Raj also concured the importance of this program and emphasized that these types of enlightening awareness initiatives should be conducted in most places.
Resource Persons Mr. Primus Bhutia shared his experience of substance abuse and how he overcame this addiction. He further underlined that the guardians need to be aware and a conversation needs to be created if anyone is found of suffering from substance issues, as he underlined that assistant to curb substance issue is available and one can reach out to these institutions for counselling and other purposes. The resource person also prescribed the dos and don’ts to guard one from dependency if any situation arises that would push them into drug abuse.
