Mega Job Mela organised at CCCT Chisopani

Namchi, 27th May(IPR): Namchi District Administration, Skill Committee organised a Mega Job Mela at the Centre for Computers and Communication Technology, Chisopani, today.
Advisor, Skill Development Department Mr Satish Chandra Rai graced the event as the Chief Guest.
The objective of organising the Job Mela was to provide a platform to the skilled manpower in the district to secure employment in various industries and companies located in the district.
It was also to motivate the youths towards self-employment by involving themselves in entrepreneurship and start up as informed by the Additional District Magistrate, (Namchi) Mr Satyen kumar Pradhan.
The programme was also attended by SDM(Jorethang)Mrs Saloni Pradhan, CCCT Principal Dr BB Pradhan, Deputy Director (Skill Development) Dr IBS Yadav, Resource Person Ms. Duka Chettri, SEED Cell State Coordinator Mr Dipen Subba, Asst Director, Industries Mr. AD Rai along with officials and representatives of companies and students at large.
The Mega Job Mela had the presence of companies from various sectors such as Pharma, Engineering, Hydropower and Hospitality Industry located in and around Namchi District and from Gangtok. Various organisation engaged in promoting entrepreneurship such as SEED cell, District Industries Centre, Skill Development Department, Niyukti kendra etc were also present.
The Board of Practical Training (ER) Kolkatta, a unit under Govt of India which provides internship support was also present. BOPT provides honorarium support for internship so that the aspirants are motivated to take up internship in various industrial units.
Addressing, Mr Satish Chandra Rai lauded the effort of the District Administration and various other companies for providing the opportunity to job aspirants in the state.
He encouraged the aspirants to avail the most out of the fear whether they get selected or not. He added that there are plenty of opportunities lying ahead.
Furthermore, he mentioned that under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr. Prem Singh Tamang, various schemes have been launched focusing on entrepreneurial business in the state such as Skilled Youth Start-Up, SEED Cell and many others. These schemes are initiated to boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem helping to generate employment and hence improving the lives of individuals and communities, as well as the overall economy of the state, he added.
Further, he requested the GM and HR of the various companies to provide more opportunities to the local youths. Given the shortage or demand of manpower in any respective jobs, he advised them to apprise and consult with the department or the district administration trained locals manpower in various fields. He hoped that the industry would cooperate with the administration for providing local youths opportunity to work with them which would be mutually beneficial.
Deputy Director Dr. IBS Yadav highlighted various national schemes that focuses on making the youths employable and self-reliant.
During the program, SEED Cell State Coordinator, Mr.Depen Subba also shared a motivating insights about the scope of entrepreneurship in the state. He encouraged the youths to move towards entrepreneurship and benefit from the various scheme of the government.
After the motivational programme, the selection process began with the selection of the eligible candidates based on their qualifications and experience.
It may be mentioned here that more than 300 candidates of former and final year students from CCCT Chisopani and ITI Namchi went through walk in interview along with other qualified aspirants who had registered for the interview. During the day more then 160 aspirants were shortlisted for appointment for the job as well as for internship. Further many were placed in the merit list of the companies to be called in future.
