Inauguration of Bio Control Laboratory under ATMA

Namchi, 30th June (IPR): DC (Namchi) cum Chairman Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mr. M. Bharani Kumar inaugurated the first Bio control Laboratory at Assangthang Village Level Worker Centre, today. The programme was organized by ATMA Namchi District and had the presence of (Director, SAMETI) Mrs. Bina Kri. Rai, (Joint Director IPM) Mrs R.K. Sharma alongside Dr. Pratap Subba and other officials and staff.
Addressing the farmers, DC cum Chairman ATMA Mr. M. Bharani Kumar highlighted the importance of sustainable agriculture. He also spoke on opportunities on doubling farmers income through various agricultural means which can be supported by ATMA, Namchi. He urged the gathering to adopt rooftop farming in urban areas and encouraged one an all to take on farming as one of their leisure activities as they can grow their own food, thus accelerating the concept of sustainable agriculture.
(Director, SAMETI) Mrs. Bina Rai expressed her gratitude and mentioned the importance of setting Bio control Laboratory. She spoke on all the fronts around activities carried out in the department.
Resource Persons (Assistant Professor)Dr. Rupert Anand and (Dy PD ATMA) Dr. Nation Rai delivered presentation on the role and use of Bio control agents. They also brifed on the various activities of ATMA under Namchi District.
The programme also saw distribution of seed money, finger Millets and sprayer. Thereafter, the team also visited the Mushroom Spawn Production unit at Salghari which was also set up by ATMA Namchi District.
