MOS Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh visits Siddheshvar Dham, Tathagata Tsal and Sikkim University Yangang

Namchi, 10th July(IPR): Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs and Education, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh who is on a three day visit to Sikkim arrived at Namchi district, today.
He was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Ch Debala Devi, APS Mr. Seram Tombi Meitei, P.A Ms. Piungmlui Dangmei along with concerned officials.
During the visit, he toured pilgrimage sites of Siddheshvar Dham in Namchi and Tathagata Tsal in Ravangla, wherein he offered prayers and sought blessings.
At Tathagata Tsal premises, he met with the faculty members of Ravangla National Institute of Technology alongwith representatives from Bal Panchayat Members of Barfung Jarrung GPU. The members of both the institutes apprised about their respective functioning and other developments undertaken for the benefit of students and children at large. The minister also gave a patient hearing to the various social activities carried out by the Bal Panchayats.
Thereafter, he also visited the under construction campus site of Sikkim University at Yangang.
He inspected the infrastructures of the campus buildings namely that of Administration, Library, Faculty, Labortary, Hostels and Guest House.
Afterwhich, the Minister attended a press conference organised by the Sikkim University at the Tourism Guest House of Yangang Helipad.
Addressing, the conference the Minister said that Government of India is consistently uplifting the North Eastern States into new heights by the means of holistic development. He said the government has provided assistance to establish one Central University in each state or Union Territory to fulfill an autonomous Centre of Learning thus supporting the students of the region at large. He underlined that ‘education can aid in guiding the next generation and that the youngsters should focus on equipping themselves for a skilled based future’. Further, he also explained the objective of National Education Policy, 2020 which will focuses on the vocational education and trainings of the students and achieving universal foundational literacy.
Vice Chancellor Sikkim University Mr. Abinash Kharee gave a brief introduction of Sikkim University which was started in the year 2007. He informed that all the construction projects related to the campus will be completed by the year 2025. Further, he mentioned that the shifting of the campus will start from September onwards from Gangtok to Yangang.
Sikkim University Engineer Mr. Hemant Sharma gave a brief detailed report on the construction phase and the present status of the Sikkim University. He said that the Phase One of the construction projects has been completed and the Phase Two Package Two has been initiated from this year. Under this Phase Two projects, the buildings such as Administration, Library, Faculty, Labortary and Hostels will be completed by the year 2025.
Throughout the entourage, the Minister was accompanied by MLA Ms. Farwanti Tamang and MLA Ms Raj Kumari Thapa along with Director(Education Department) Mrs. Hondala Gyaltsen, SDPO (Ravangla) Mr. Bikash Tiwari and other officials from Education Department.
