MoS of Tribal Affairs Mrs Renuka Singh inaugurated EMRS, Suntoley under Namchi District

Namchi, 19th August(IPR): Union Minister of State for Ministry of Tribal Affairs Mrs Renuka Singh attended the inaugural ceremony of Eklavya Model Residential School at Suntoley, Melli, today.
Also present were the Minister of Social Justice and Welfare Department Dr MK Sharma along with MP(Lok Sabha) Mr Indra Hang Subba, Area MLA Mrs Farwanti Tamang, Secretary(SJ&WD) Mr Tshewang Gyatso Bhutia, DC (Namchi) Mr M Bharani Kumar, Principal EMRS(Suntonley) Dr Amar Kanti, other dignitaries, concerned officials, teaching faculty and students of the EMRS school at large.
At the outset, the Union MoS formally inaugurated the newly constructed school building along with Boys and Girls hostels and other facility.
Addressing the gathering, the MoS Mrs Renuka Singh expressed her joy and satisfaction that EMRS schools are being established to impart quality education to the tribal students of Sikkim. She exhorted the students to excel with perseverance to become successful in their lives. Further, she mentioned that the EMRS schools give emphasis not only on academic education but also focus on the all-around development of the tribal students. Till date 684 EMRS schools have been sanctioned by the Government of India to provide impetus to quality education in tribal areas across the country, she added.
She further also highlighted various schemes for the welfare of people being implemented by the Government and also urged the gatherings to take optimum benefit of the schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Dr MK Sharma congratulated the establishment of an EMRS school in the region. He said that the school shall provide standard education to the local students and hence, he urged the local populace to support and create a sense of belonging to the institute.
Secretary Mr Tshewang Gyatso highlighted the brief details on the EMRS schools of Sikkim. Wherein he also spoke about activities and achievements made by the students of EMRS.
The inaugural program also saw traditional dance and song performances by the students.
It may be mentioned here that the construction of the buildings is funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The new four-storey school building has 35 rooms which include classrooms, home science and science labs, staff rooms, exam room, library, multipurpose hall and toilet blocks. Additionally, the school hostels for boys and girls students, the principal quarter along with administrative buildings were also simultaneously inaugurated.
Currently, the EMRS school provides free education, fooding, lodging and all essential facilities for underprivileged ST students of Sikkim from ClassVI to Class X and is under the supervision of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim.
