Namchi, 10th February: DC (Namchi) Shri. M. Bharani Kumaar, accompanied by (DCSO/Namchi) Shri Tenzing Bhutia, visited few Fair Price Shops situated at Melli Bazar, today. They visited Melli Food Go-down and checked the stock register of food grains received from FCI concerned. However, it was found that the records of food grains dispatched from Go-Down to individual FPSs have been randomly maintained hence, directed DCSO to make a standard format and procedure for all the food go-downs. During the course of checking, it was directed the Go-Down In-charge to maintain cleanliness in and around the complex. The DC also informed to keep the documents up to date and in a systematic manner.
After the visit of Food Go-Down, the District Collector proceeded to Fair Price Shops available in the Melli Bazar and checked three shops thoroughly and took stock of ePoS transaction to be made compulsorily by the beneficiaries before lifting rice. He also checked availability of Electronic Weighing Machine, refilled Fire Extinguishers, rate board having information of stock position of AAY/PHH and OPH, latest verified certificates EWM, etc. stores meant for storing rice were also thoroughly checked. Adfitionally he directed the FPS owners to undertake frequent cleanliness of the store. During the inspection of FPS, most of the owners raised the issues of long pending bills of transportation and margin for free distribution of ration during previous year in turn the District Collector assured them to communicate with the concerned authority.
It is reiterated that Melli Food Go-Down has 53 Fair Price Shops and for the couple of months before, had the lowest automated transaction in the state though all the beneficiaries are residents of close proximity. The checking of FPS of Namchi district will continue in future as well to ensure the right amount of food grains are delivered to genuine beneficiaries as per NFSA, 2013.
