Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman, 2023

Namchi, 8th March(IPR): On, the occasion of International Women’s Day, a felicitation program of Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman, 2023 under Swach Bharat Mission (Grameen) was convened at the conference hall of Namchi Zilla Panchayat Bhawan, today.
Organized by Rural Development Department under the office of ADC (Development) Namchi. The program had the presence of Zilla Adhakshya (Namchi) Ms Anjeeta Rai as the chief guest. Present amongst others were ADC Development(Namchi) Dr. C.P Rai, Zilla Members, panchayats, along with officials and staff of the department.
Addressing, the gathering, Chief Guest Ms. Anjeeta Rai extended her greetings on the occasion of International Women’s Day and congratulated the awardees of Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman, 2023.
Exhorting the pivotal role and contribution made by women in different fields and professions to build a progressive nation she cited a few examples of exceptional women such as that of Rani Laxmi Bai, Sarojini Naidu, and many other women leading figures throughout the past and in modern times, they have given substantial contributions and ensured the overall growth and development of the nation. Moreover, she informed how the women-centric policies and programmes namely Aama Sashaktikaran, Bahini, Sikkim Garib Aawas Yojana, and others adopted by the state government have empowered women in society. In addition, she expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang for upholding the dignity of Sikkimese women through the launch of these women-focused programmme and policies.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Development (Namchi) Dr. CP Rai emphasized the significance of commemorating Swach Sujal Shakti Samman on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Additionally, he said that the purpose of the ‘Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman’ is to highlight and acknowledge the leadership and contribution of women at the grass-root level towards the making of a ‘Swachh Sujal Bharat’. He apprised about the status of ongoing works of the national flagship schemes under the Swach Bharat Mission in which Sikkim has bagged many awards to date. Further, he encouraged the awardees to keep up the same spirit and put in sincere efforts to achieve the best outcomes in the future also.
A total of six women achievers under the ADC (Development) Namchi were felicitated during the program for Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman, 2023. They were awarded for their exceptional work in ODF Plus Model Villages, Har Ghar Jal Villages, Water Conservation abd others which comes under the National Flagship Missions.
The awardees were namely:

3. Ms. Jasmati Mangar (VWSC)
4. Ms. Anjana Tamang( PDA)
5. Ms. Priyanka Thapa (VWSC)
6. MS. Rajkumari Rai (PDA)
During the program, the awardees also shared their experiences and difficulties faced while working under the SBM programmes.
