Hon’ble Minister Education Department Mr. Kunga Nima Lepcha inaugurated the newly constructed eight-room building of Government Secondary School, Karongthang under Namchi District

Namchi, 6th April(IPR): Hon’ble Minister Education Department Mr. Kunga Nima Lepcha inaugurated the newly constructed eight-room building of Government Secondary School, Karongthang under Namchi District, today.

Press Secretary to HCM Mr. Bikash Basnet, Area MLA Ms. Raj Kumari Thapa, Secretary Education Department Mrs. Sunita Pradhan, SDM (Yangang) Mr Milan Rai, SMC (Chairperson) Mr. D.R Gurung along with SMC members, teachers and students of the school and public at large.
It may be mentioned here that the newly built school is of two-storeyed consisting of eight rooms. The school building is built at 91 lakhs rupees sanctioned in the year 2019 under the Samagra Siksha fund. The new building will comfortably accommodate the increasing number of students and also fulfill the shortages of classrooms.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister Mr. K.N Lepcha congratulated the school fraternity on the addition of new infrastructure. He stated that the State Government has always tried to meet the requisites for quality education in the state and said that the government has approved more than 105 schools buildings and 5 playgrounds per constituency in the last 4 years in order to provide an integrated holistic learning experience. In addition, he also apprised about the demands of modern education and its importance in day-to-day life of the students and faculty. He also shed light of the existing global challenges such as plastic waste, environmental issues, water conservation, and many more wherein he emphasized the teachers to equip the young minds with skills that can aid in tackling these challenges so that in future these students can become a torchbearer in eradicating these challenges.
Further, he highlighted the policies and schemes namely New Education Policy,2020, Nipun Bharat and Nipun Sikkim, CMMS, Nar Bahadur Bhandari Fellowship, Apatan, and many more which has been adopted by the State Government to benefit aspiring students.
Press Secretary to HCM Mr. Bikash Basnet in his address stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang, the state has seen a major leap in the growth and development of Education, Health, Agriculture, Tourism, and many other allied sectors. He said that the state government is committed in improving the all-round development of the state, and hence the public of Yangang-Rangang constituency has benefitted at large citing the state-of-the-art infrastructures such as the Bhaley Dhunga Passenger Rope Way, Sikkim University, Film City and other projects. These developments are a testament of a progressive government that has been executed as a top priority, he added.
During the program, milk incentives cheques were also distributed by Sikkim Milk Union to the following MPCS.

3. Upper Manzing MPCS
4. Mayan MPCS
The program also saw the felicitation of Mr. Bikash Basnett, Mr BB Subba and Mr. Mukesh Jairu for their active contribution for the welfare of the people.
