Training Cum Awareness & Distribution Programme at Kewzing Bakhim Under PDMC-PMKSY

Namchi, 26th April: Department of Agriculture, Government of Sikkim organized a training cum awareness & distribution programme of Micro Irrigtion System (Sprinkler & Drip Irrigation) under the scheme ‘’Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichayee Yojana’’ component ‘’Per Drop More Crop’’ which is being implemented by Agriculture Department for the year 2022-23 at Kewzing Bakhim cluster of 09/Barfung GPU.
The programme was graced with the presence of Hon’ble MLA Shri T. T. Bhutia of 09/Barfung Constituency as Chief Guest, Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat Smt Jashoda Chettri along with all respectable ward panchayats of 50/Kewzing Bakhin GPU.
The Joint Director Agriculture (Namchi) Smt Nirmala Moktan while addressing the farmers, highlighted the key features of the scheme and benefits provided to the farmers under PDMC, she also praised the farmers for their active participation and involvement in programme and agricultural activities at grass root level. The farmers were assured that by utilizing the irrigation system correctly would result in doubling the farmer’s income due to its water efficient mode of irrigation.
While the technical session was conducted by Assistant Engineer-Agriculture Department Shri. Binaya Basnett Engineering Cell, Namchi highlighted the key points for efficient water management in the field and time saving technical knowledge while operating the system, which in a long run shall be helpful to avoid system failures and water loss during operation.
Cluster Incharge Cum Agriculture Inspector (Kewzing) Shri Kunzang Tashi Bhutia detailed that 60 (Sixty) nos of farmers were benefitted the same day and remaining 220 (Two hundred Twenty) farmers will be benefitted within one week and installation of the system shall follow immediately afterwards.
In a note of address by Hon’ble Area MLA, he stressed that the State Government and Central Government are working tirelessly and in tandem to uplift the farmers of Sikkim by implementing various schemes in the state, in the field of Agriculture and Horticulture and thanked the line department for selecting the said Cluster under ‘’PDMC-PMKSY 2022-23’’
While taking the diaz, Agriculture Development Officer-Rabong Shri Dharmendra Tamang ensured to monitor the work and implement the scheme propely and on behalf of the entire GPU the ward panchayat Shri Palchen Sherpa assured full co-operation from the public and his Gram Panchayat towards the department and make the GPU a model village in days to come and make the scheme a grand success.
