Millet recipe contest at Passi Village

Namchi, 28th June: Thirty farm women and SHG members of Passi village participated in a ‘Millet Recipe Contest’ organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra South Sikkim, Namthang, today as a part of International Year of Millets.
The aim of the programme was to create awareness and make healthy competition among the women about different health and economic benefits of millets and millets-based products.
A four-member panel comprising of Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Namthang – Shri I.P. Shivakoty, CEO of Bermiok Tokal FPCS – Shri Tara Prasad Sharma; Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy) – Ms. Ambika Sharma and ADO cum Soil Testing Lab Incharge KVK Namthang – Shri Yograj Pradhan rated the recipes such as Pani Roti, Doodh Roti, Sel Roti, Thekuwa, Khidchdi, Kawdi, Momo, Phulaura, Batarey, Honeycomb, laddoo, phaley, etc. made out of millets and buckwheat.
Based on scoring of judges on different parameters winners were selected and awarded with gifts.
