Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang attended the closing ceremony of 1 Lakh tree plantation drive at Temi

Namchi, 4th July (IPR): Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang attended the closing ceremony of 1 Lakh tree plantation drive at Temi, today. Organized by Heavenly Nirvana Path, the Chief Minister was accompained by Madam Krishna Rai, Cabinet Ministers Mr. B. S. Panth, Mr. Bhim Hang Subba, Secretary Forest Department Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Master Godangel Guru Hajur, Chairman Commerce & Industries department Vyasananda Guru and other dignitaries along with public and devotees at large.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister stated that Sikkim has been blessed by Guru Hajur and his noble initiative of 1 lakh trees plantation drive, which is supported and implemented by the State Government in order to promote and conserve the environment. The Chief Minister briefed about the life and achievements of Guru Hajur and how through the concept of Loveism, his team has worked tirelessly in augmenting the social, environment and other sectors in the state.
The Chief Minister said that this plantation drive resonates with ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati’ scheme. This initiative allows for 108 trees/saplings to be planted for every newborn baby in Sikkim resulting in conservation of the environment. It aims at strengthening the bond between parent-children and nature
Area MLA cum Minister Mr. B.S. Panth, appraised the gathering regarding various developmental works undertaken in the constituency. He also placed a series of demands on behalf of the public of the area, such as construction of monastery, janta bhetghat programme and land allotment of the Temi tea workers working since 1969.
Expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister for allowing him to visit Sikkim and preach love, Master Godangel Guru Hajur conducted Nirvanik meditation and offered blessings to the devotees present in the programme.
Earlier, Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang alongside Madam Krishna Rai, Master Godangel Guru Hajur, Area MLA cum Minister Mr. B.S. Panth, PHE Minister Mr. Bhim Hang Subba and other dignitaries participated in the plantation drive.
A total of 35,000 saplings of Cherry, Chaap & Guraas were planted at Lametar, Temi Namphing today.
In a major initiative towards environment protection, Sikkim has planted over 1,15,000 trees since World Environment Day last year.
On the occasion Chief Minister handed over certificates to 13 couples and their children who participated in ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati’ programme.
