World Breastfeeding Week organized by Women and Child Development Department at Maniram Phalidara GPK

Namchi, 3rd August: The World Breastfeeding Week, which is celebrated in August each year was organized by Women and Child Development Department at Maniram Phalidara GPK, today. The theme for this year is ‘Enabling Breastfeeding – Making a difference for working parents’.
Present during the World Breastfeeding Week programme were SDM Namchi Mr. M.k Chettri as special Guest accompanied by HEO Ms. Roshni Thapa, AD (Nutrition) Ms. Sophia Lepcha alongside
Zilla Panchayat Mr. Passang Dorjee lepcha, Panchayat President, Panchayat members, Nutrition Inspector, Supervisor, Poshan DC, Poshan PA, Office Staff, Father, mother, Mother in law,Teachers, Adolescent girl and Students.
World Breastfeeding Week is a timely reminder of the role breastfeeding plays in providing optimal health and nutrition for newborns and infants. The day aims to create awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding.
Durung the course of the programme an anemia screening test were held among adolescent girl, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
