World Breastfeeding Week at Khop ICDS Centre

Namch, 4th August: The World Breastfeeding Week under its theme ‘Enabling Breast Feeding- Making a difference for working parents’ organised by Women and Child Development Department was held at Khop ICDS Centre at Ravangla, today. It maybe mentioned that every year from 1st to 7th August the World Breastfeeding Week is observed.
Present during programme were Vice Panchayat President Mrs. Munna Maya Chettri of Khop Ward as the Chief Guest accompained by SDM (Ravangla) Mr. Sisum Wanchuk Bhutia as a special guest along side JD (Nutrition) Mrs. Sonam Doma Bhutia , Health Educator (Ravangla) Miss Reshma Rai, AD (Nutrition) Ms. Sophia Lepcha, AWW, AWH, Pregnant women, Lactating Mothers, adolescent girls, ICDS Children and public.
The main aim of this programme was to create an awareness amongst the villagers about benefits of breast feeding to the mother and the baby. Information on importance of breastfeeding, its advantage for mother and child, was also explained in detail as breastfeeding plays a vital role in healthy development of babies.
During the course of Programme Anemia Screening test among PW/LM, Adolescence girls were done along with recipes competition among Mothers, spot demonstration by AWW, dance competition among ICDS children, baby show competition, quiz competition among PW/LM were also held.
