2nd Inter-Departmental Football Tournament Kicks Off at Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi

Namchi, 28 September, 2023 (IPR)- The second edition of the Inter Departmental Football Tournament with the theme “Uniting Departments, Transforming Lives through the Sports” organised by the Sports & Youth Affairs Department in collaboration with DAC, Namchi District kicked off, today at Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi.
The opening ceremony was graced by DC Namchi, Mr. M Bharani Kumar. Joining him were Sr. SP Dr. T N Gyatsho Bhutia, DySP Namchi Ms. Pema Rana, Joint Director Sports & Youth Affairs Ms. Tshering Ongmu Bhutia, Deputy Director Sports & Youth Affairs Department Mr. Basant Pradhan, along with other prominent officials and eager spectators, all united by their shared passion for the game of football.
In total, 21 teams from various departments gathered to compete for glory in this football extravaganza. The teams have been divided into five groups:

The opening match of the tournament was played between Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department(LR & DM) and the Urban Development Department (UDD).
LR & DM emerged as the dominant force, securing a resounding 6-1 victory.
Following this, the second match of the day showcased Sikkim Police (Namchi), with NSS.
The NSS team exhibited remarkable skill and teamwork, securing a 3-2 victory.
It is noteworthy that the final match is slated to take place on October 15, 2023, precisely at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
