Relief material distribution by office of Namchi District Zilla Panchayat (NDZP)

Namchi, 10th October (IPR): In the wake of recent disaster which has hit Sikkim and caused devastation, this tragedy has brought in organisations and individuals from various walks of life to join hands and assist the state. This time, the office of Namchi District Zilla Panchayat (NDZP) has come together in distribution of relief materials and help Sikkim fight the battle against one of the worst adversity the state has seen in recent times.
It is said that the members of the Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) can play a role of leadership in Disaster Management at all stages, right from the preparatory stage up to handling of long term development activities for risk reduction. With this statement a relief distribution initiative was taken by Adhakshya (Namchi) Ms. Anjeeta Rai, Upa-adhakshya (Namchi) Mr. Bikash Tamang, DPO (Namchi) Ms. Karzang D. Lassopa alongwith a total of 30 Zilla Panchayats and NDZP officers and staff.
It may be mentioned that most of the contributed materials were based on the demands placed by the individuals lodged at the temporary relief camps and by people who were affected by the catastrophe. These demands were submitted to the respective Zilla Panchayats of the particular places, this submission is evident that the members of PRI have created a synergy with local populace, who are accountable to the rural community.
Most of the relief materials consisted of essential goods, Female, Male and Children hygiene products which were circulated amongst 15 temporary relief camps in Sikkim and the neighbouring areas of the state. The Adhakshya (Namchi) Ms. Anjeeta Rai, expresses her heartfelt thankfulness towards the Zilla Panchayat members and officials, staffs of NDZP who were willing to assist the state in times of need.
