Namchi district inaugurates its Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra at Namchi district Hospital

Namchi 24 Jan (IPR): Dr A B Karki, Secretary Health and Family Welfare department inaugurated the newly established Jan Aushadhi centre under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra scheme at Namchi District Hospital, today.
The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra scheme provides quality generic medicines available at affordable prices to all citizens.
The day also witnessed the presence of Ms Annapurna Alley District Collector (Namchi), Dr S N Adhikari CMO(Namchi), along with the dignitaries from Gangtok, Dr Ugen Sherpa District Nodal Officer, Doctors, Medical Specialists, Incharge of Community Health Centre (CHCs), Primary Health Sub Centre (PHSCs), Primary Health Centre (PHCs), Urban Health and Wellness Centre (UHWCs), Nurses and staff from the administration section under Namchi District Hospital.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by a coordination cum review meeting at the conference hall of District Hospital Namchi.
While addressing the meeting, the secretary extended his appreciation to present attendees and acknowledged their unrelenting efforts in providing health services in the district. He encouraged everyone to adopt participatory approaches through collaboration for the system development. He also addressed the concerns and grievances laid by the CMO, doctors and other staff and assured that it will be resolved at the earliest.
Delving on his past experiences, the secretary attributed few suggestions that would enhance in the improvement of services and overall infrastructure of the hospital.
During the meeting, Dr S N Adhikari shared about the demographic profile and services provided by the district hospital till date. He also emphasised on the needs and requirements for maintenance and smooth functioning of hospital as it caters patients from Gyalsing, Soreng and Namchi district.
He also urged the secretary to oversee and provide enhanced provision for improvised techniques and implement quality facilities in the newly under construction 500 bedded districts hospital at Singithang.
At the outset, departmental presentation pertaining to the status of various sections and sub sections including its annual achievements and requirements of the hospital, CHCs, PHSCs, PHCs, UHWCs were placed in the meeting, which comprised Dentistry, Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy, Ophthalmology, Paediatric and Gynaecology departments, Dialysis unit, National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), Blood Banks, Central Laboratory, Ayush, etc.
