Namchi district conducts District Election Coordination Meeting with Political Parties
Namchi, March 5(IPR): Ms Annapurna Alley DC Namchi cum District Election Officer (DEO) chaired the District Election Coordination Meeting with the representatives of political parties of the district at District Administrative Centre, today.
The meeting had the presence of Dr T N Gyatsho Sy SP Namchi, Mr Anant Jain ADC Namchi, Mr Subash Ghimirey ADC(HQ), Mr CP Rai ADC Development Namchi, Mr Pulkit Assistant Collector, Mr Saran Kumar Kalikotey, SDM Namchi, Mr Sunil Sharma Chief Pay and Accounts Officer (CPAO) Namchi, Mr Karma Choda Bhutia Deputy Director Land Revenue and Disaster Management (LR&DM) along with the representatives of political parties of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha(SKM), Sikkim Democratic Front(SDF) and Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).
The main purpose of the meeting was to inform the political parties on the current status of electoral roll updation as per the guidelines of Elections Commission of India (ECI).
During the meeting, the representatives were briefed about the nomination procedures, forms and Suvidha candidate portal, postering and bannering, expenditure and its monitoring. In addition, they were also updated on Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and penalties for the violation of MCC and were advised to follow law and order, security and traffic management to maintain the decorum of the district.
It was informed that in case of any party meeting at private premises, the political parties are advised to publish the NOC application of land parcha holder and if the land is jointly held, then they must provide the NOC of all legal land owners to the DEO.
The representatives were also informed about the VIGIL apps that allow vigilant citizens to give live reports on incidents of MCC violation within minutes of having witnessed them.Likewise, they were also briefed about the counting plan, strong rooms, arrangements for polling and counting during the election period, which is set up at Namchi Government College.
Later, the officers along with the representatives of political parties visited the storage and strong rooms of EVMs and VVPAT at Namchi Government College.
