Inspection of the damages caused in various affected locations under Lingee Payong GPU

Namchi, 18 June : Inspection of the damages caused in various affected locations under Lingee Payong GPU, by the heavy rainfall that occurred on 13/6/2024 was carried out by a team comprising of SDM Yangang, Tshering Norgyal Theengh, Deputy Director, DPO (LR&DM), BDO Yangang, JEs, Revenue Surveyors, Food Inspector and other line department officials in presence of the Honourable MLA, Tumin Lingee Constituency, Mr Samdup Tshering Bhutia, concerned Ward Panchayats and general Public.
The road connectivity has been severely hit by the heavy rainfall and 3 major roads have been totally cut off and damaged.
1. Kau khola road (kimbubotey Sokpay road)
2. Suntalay badam tam road
3. Lower Lingee road
The Assistant Engineer and team, Road and Bridges department have been directed to carry on the restoration work and they have ensured that temporary road for passing of small vehicles will be restored within 10 to 15 days for the purpose of ration and medical emergency .
Further, food Inspector, was directed to coordinate with the concerned ward panchayats with regards to stock status of ration in all Fair Price Shops in view of the road being cut off and arrangement for transshipment if need arises.
Also various houses that have suffered severe and partial damages were visited and assessment were carried on for the purpose of distributing ex gratia as per Government norms .
14 Taurpolins were also handed over to the Revenue Surveyor for issuing to affected families.
Later the team also visited the ten families from Brum ward, that have been shifted due to the Majua slide and living in make shift camp in private houses.
A follow up visit will also be carried out within 15 days to monitor the progress of restoration work and for issuing ex gratia to the affected families.
