Pre-celebration of 210th Bhanu Jayanti commences in Namchi with various competitions

Namchi, July 11 (IPR): Dakshin Sikkim Sahitya Sammelan (DSSS) in collaboration with District Administrative Centre Namchi organised various Inter School and Inter College competition as pre-celebration of 210th Bhanu Jayanti at Officer’s Club Namchi, today.
Present during the competition were Mr Dalman D Gurung President (DSSS Namchi), Mr Ganesh Chettri Vice President ( DSSS Namchi), Mr Suresh Subba General Secretary ( DSSS Namchi), Mr Pem Norbu Sherpa Editor cum press and publicity( DSSS Namchi), members of DSSS, teachers and students of different schools and College of Namchi.
Mr Suresh Subba highlighted the significance of the event. He applauded the students for their active participation and encouraged them to preserve and value the culture and traditions of every community.
During the programme, various competition was organised by the committee members. Students from different schools and college participated in Ramayan Paath, Poem Recitation, Extempore and Paintings competition. An open competition for the audience in Ramayan Paath and Poem Recitation was also organised by the committee members where many of them actively participated.
The judge for today’s competition were Dr Nayan Rai former President (DSSS Namchi) and Mr KS Rai Join Secretary (DSSS Namchi). The theme for todays painting competition was Nepali Lok Nritya, Traditional Culture and Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya. Admist the major Bhanu Jayanti celebration on July 13, the winners of these competitions will receive prizes and certificates and five of the best poems will be published by “Hamri Ama” publication house at Damthang.
It may be mentioned here that, Bhanu Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya’s birthday, which falls on July 13th. Bhanu Jayanti marks an important occasion in Nepali Literature which is celebrated yearly as an opulent cultural celebration.
