Cooperation Department, Namchi carried out plantation drive at Wok GPU marking the year-long celebration of 50 years of statehood of Sikkim under the theme “Sunaulo ani Samriddha Sikkim”

Namchi, 19th July 2024: Cooperation Department, Namchi District carried out plantation drive at Wok GPU marking the year-long celebration of 50 years of statehood of Sikkim under the theme “Sunaulo ani Samriddha Sikkim”.
In continuation to the celebration of Golden Jubilee year of Sikkim’s statehood, Cooperation Department, jointly with Wok MPCS and Wok VDVK, carried out plantation drive at Wok Omchu GPU under Namchi District. The programme was graced as the chief guest by Hon’ble Panchayat president of Wok Omchu GPU Mrs. Thrinley Doma Bhutia in the presence of panchayat members, BDO Sikip BAC, Additional Registrar, Joint RCS, Deputy RCS and officials from Cooperation department and SRLM, BoD members of Wok MPCS, FPO, VDVK, SHGs and local gentries. Total 100 number of ornamental plant saplings were planted along Wok-Sikip PWD road during the drive.
Later, a formal programme was held at Wok Tourism Hall wherein activities like Annual General Meeting of Wok MPCS, launching of VDVK products, Disbursement me KCC loan, distribution of toolkits to VDVK members were carried out.
The audit report of Wok MPCS for the financial year 2023-24 was placed before the general body and the same was confirmed and approved. Freshly bound hill broom by the SHG members enrolled in Wok Van Dhan Vikas Kendra under PMVDY was launched. 25 number of trainees undergoing bee-farming training were given scientific bee boxes during the programme. A sanction letter of KCC loan to the tune of Rs. 20,90,000/- was handed over to the President of Wok MPCS by the Branch Manager, SISCO bank.
Additional Registrar Purushottam Pradhan highlighted on the multi-sector business potential of an MPCS. Programmes such as adoption of uniform Bye-laws for PACS across the country, Computerisation of PACS, Operation of Common Service Centre by MPCSs, institution of PM Jan Awsadhi Kendra, have been introduced to enable the society to function vibrantly. The computerisation process of Wok MPCS is complete and establishment of Common Service Centre (CSC) put in place, he encouraged the people of the GPU to take benefit of the services like renewal of Vehicle Token Tax, Crop Insurance, PAN application, AADHAR corrections, travel bookings, mobile recharges, etc at their doorsteps.
The chief guest Mrs. Thrinley Doma Bhutia expressed her happiness in participating in the plantation drive and appreciated the initiatives taken up by Wok MPCS and SHG members through their involvement in VDVK. She encouraged the people to emerge into business sector to bring about economic and societal changes.
