Narco Coordination (NCORD) monthly meeting held at DAC Namchi

Namchi, 20 July (IPR): A monthly Narco Coordination (NCORD) meeting for Namchi District was held in the DC’s chamber in Namchi. The meeting brought together various officials to discuss strategies for controlling narcotics in the district. Key topics included reviewing current anti-drug measures, sharing updates on ongoing efforts, and planning future initiatives to address drug-related issues in the area.
The meeting had the presence of Ms Anupa Tamling DC (Namchi), Dr T N Gyatsho Sr SP, Mr Subash Ghimiray ADC (HQ), Ms Vinita Pradhan ASP (Special Branch), Mr Gopal K Chettri SDM (HQ), Dr SN Adhakari (CMO), Ms Peggyla Tshering Venchungpa (DFO/T), Mr G.P Sharma Joint Director (Education) along with HOOs from different line departments.
Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi began the meeting by emphasizing the need to disrupt the supply and demand chain to reduce drug addiction. She offered various recommendations to decrease demand and stressed the importance of maintaining clear communication between all line departments involved.
Dr. T N Gyatsho Sr. SP led the discussions, providing updates on various awareness programs. He mentioned that driver’s license of those found peddling or carrying large quantities of drugs were being cancelled, with six licenses already cancelled and two more in process. He also provided an update on activities from the last three months, detailing the awareness programs conducted and the number of drug-related cases registered.
Ms. Peggyla Tshering Venchungpa (DFO/T) stated that each addict has their own reason emphasizing the importance of conducting a thorough case study before addressing an individual’s addiction rather than giving awareness to the mass in general.
Special attention was given to fostering awareness programs on NCORD, set to be implemented across the district in collaboration with relevant departments.
