First Level Checking of EVMs and VVPATs for Upcoming Bye Election Concludes in Namchi District

Namchi, July 23 (IPR): The First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) for the forthcoming Bye Elections, 2024 of 11 Namchi-Singithang Assembly Constituency concluded today at the District Administrative Centre, Namchi.
Present during the FLC were Ms. Anupa Tamling, DC (Namchi), Mr. Subash Ghimirey, ADC Namchi, Mr. Karma Choda Bhutia, Deputy Director LR&DM, staff from Election Department and representatives from political parties.
Earlier in the day, a warehouse at the Election Cell, DAC, was opened at 9:00 am in the presence of Mr. Subash Ghimirey, ADC Namchi, Mr. Karma Choda Bhutia, Deputy Director LR&DM, along with the representatives of political parties.
Following the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, 35 Ballot Units, 36 Control Units, and 35 VVPATs were thoroughly checked. During this process, 1 VVPAT reported as defected.
Over the two-day FLC a total of 70 EVMs and VVPATs were inspected.
Post FLC, the EVMs and VVPATs were securely shifted and sealed back in the warehouse by 4:15 pm with 24/7 surveillance.
