Fair Price Shop Level Vigilance Committee Meeting conducted by the Food And Civil Supplies Department, Namchi District

Namchi, 2 July : A Fair Price Shop Level Vigilance Committee Meeting was conducted by the Food And Civil Supplies Department, Namchi District, at Upper Ghurpisey, Namchi on 1st of August under the chairmanship of the Councillor, Upper Ghurpisey, Mr. Pem Norbu Bhutia, in accordance with Notification No. 855/FCS&CA with 05.10.2018.
The main agenda of the meeting were as follows:
1. To regularly supervise the implementation of all schemes under National Food Security Act, 2023.
2. To inform the District Grievances Redressal Officer in writing on violation of the provisions the National Food Security Act.
3. To inform the District Grievance Redressal Office in writing of any malpractices or misappropriation of the fund, found by the committee.
The programme initiated with the Introduction and welcoming of the Chairperson , Mr Pem Norbu Bhutia, Councillor and other members of the committee. Up next, a brief discussion was held for proper execution of the above-mentioned agendas of the meeting.
It was then followed by a short speech on National food Security Act, 2013. The attendants were introduced to the different schemes namely AAY and PHH, OPH, NPH, also stating different Eligibility Criteria in identification of the Scheme beneficiaries, the Objectives, Salient features, and Benefits that can be drawn through respective Schemes launched under NFSA, 2013. The speaker also disseminated detailed information on One Nation One Ration Card scheme and its implementation and benefits. She further shed light on the nutritional value and quality of Fortified Rice, supplied by the Department through Public Distribution System.
The District Civil Supplies Officer, Namchi District ,Mr Tenzing Bhutia on his speech emphasized on the completion of EKYC of all the beneficiaries availing various schemes of The National Food Security Act,2013, by the month of September 2024, as directed by the Government of India.
He also stressed on the various Rights of a consumer and The Right of A Consumer to file a complaint to the nearest District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission upon finding any shopkeepers violating the rules and their right to seek Redressal.
The meeting succeeded to reach the objectives set and ended with a vote of thanks by the In charge, Namchi Food Godown.
