Social Welfare Department Hosts Training and Orientation Programme on Scholarship Schemes
Namchi, August 30th (IPR): The Social Welfare Department organised a comprehensive Training and Orientation Programme on Scholarship Schemes at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Centre Namchi, today.
The event was attended by Miss Kabita Subba Joint Secretary HQ, Miss Srijana Karkidholi Assistant Director/IT HQ, Miss Pratiba Tamang Senior Welfare Officer, Welfare Inspectors, Heads of Institutes (HOIs),and Nodal Officers (INOs) from the district.
Miss Kabita Subba delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining the various scholarship schemes available under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Central Sector Schemes, administered by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
She highlighted that for the 2024-2025 academic year, students applying for Post Matric Scholarships for ST, SC, OBC, and EBC categories for Private Institutions must obtain a declaration signed by an Oath Commissioner.
She also covered eligibility criteria and scholarship rates, urging INOs and HOIs to ensure all institutes to complete the eKYC and biometric/face authentication processes promptly. She expressed concern over the declining enrolment numbers and encouraged students to maximise the benefits offered by both State and Central Government schemes.
Miss Srijana Karkidholi provided an update on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and detailed the One-Time Registration (OTR) process required to access scholarship benefits. She emphasised the importance of completing eKYC for institutions, DNO registration, and INO/HOI authentication through the Face-auth app, as discussed during the meeting.
The meeting featured an interactive session where the chair engaged in discussions with INOs and HOIs. Emphasis was placed on achieving maximum coverage to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds can benefit from the available scholarships.
It was also noted that the State portal for online applications has been open from 8th August 2024 to 10th October 2024.
