One Stop Centre, Jorethang conducts Empowering Women -100 Days Awareness Campaign

Namchi, August 31 (IPR): The District Hub for the Empowerment of Women (DHEW), under the Women and Child Development Department (W&CDD), successfully organised a 100 Days Awareness Campaign programme at the One-Stop Centre (OSC) in Jorethang.
The event had the presence of Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, Ms Monika Rai SDM Jorethang, Mr Mingyur T Nadik SDPO Jorethang, Mr Umesh Pradhan SHO Jorethang,
Mr Joshua Lama DPO WCDD Jorethang, Ms Sophia Lepcha AD Nutrition WCDD, Dr Rahul Mukhia, Medical Officer MOIC Jorethang, Mrs Kumari Majhi President Drugs Safai Abhiyan, Anganwadi workers and staff members of WCDD, Namchi District.
During the interactive session, Ms Anupa Tamling congratulated the DHEW team and OSC staff for their diligent efforts in making the programme a success.
She emphasised the importance of spreading awareness about various departmental schemes to reduce incidents of crimes against women and children. She encouraged the team to extend their outreach to different Sub-Divisions within Namchi District.
Similarly, both SDM and SDPO Jorethang shared their insights and feedback, aiming to assist the DHEW and OSC teams in refining their strategies and improving methods to support those in need.
Ms Hema Devi Sharma, District Mission Coordinator, presented an overview of DHEW’s initiatives. She highlighted the Hub’s role in providing comprehensive support services, including skill development, employment opportunities, digital literacy, and health and nutrition.
She also noted DHEW’s role as a conduit between the Central & State Government and local administration to implement women-centric schemes.
Ms Sangita Gurung, Centre Administrator, OSC, detailed the centre’s operations and success stories. She explained the procedures followed when addressing complaints and assisting individuals seeking help.
Additionally, Ms Kumari Majhi presented on the efforts of Drugs Safai Abhiyan in combating drug peddling and their success stories in providing support to those in need.
The programme began with a welcome speech by Ms Aitaa Rani Subba and concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Sophia Lepcha, AD Nutrition WCDD. The dignitaries also visited ICDS, HUB, OSC, and WHL.
