Namchi Hosts District-Level Dance Competition for Teej Celebration 2024

The event was honoured by Madam Krishna Rai as the chief guest and chief patron for the State-Level Teej Celebration.

She was accompanied by Ms. Rajkumari Thapa Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Mr. Bhoj Raj Rai Minister of Urban Development and Food and Civil Supplies Departments, Mr. N B Pradhan MLA cum Advisor Melli Constituency, Ms. Anjeeta Rajalim Zilla Adhakshya Namchi, Chairpersons, Panchayats, Ms. Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, ADCs, SDMs, HoOs, HOIs, and committee members of the Teej Celebration.

During the event, Madam Krishna Rai expressed her heartfelt appreciation to all attendees and extended a special gratitude to the Chief Minister for enabling the grand organisation of the pre-Teej celebration.

She announced that one team from each of the seven constituencies would be selected to represent at the State-Level Teej Celebration, scheduled for 8th September 2024 at Saramsa Garden, Gangtok district.

She encouraged all the participating team to attend the state-level event and assured them a token of appreciation from the Chief Minister.

Further, she highlighted the significance of Teej and urged women to unite and foster communal harmony for a prosperous society. She emphasised the government’s commitment to women-centric initiatives, including the Aama, Bahini, and other programmes aimed at empowering women in Sikkim. She encouraged continued support for these initiatives.

The event also witnessed a felicitation to the Chief Guest honoured by the Sikkim Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association for her contributions to the community and the state.

Additionally, the event featured the release of two musical albums: “Addict” by Mr. Bidhur Gautam, featuring the title song “Bhaihalcha,” and a new release by Mr. Tshering Tamang with the title song “Krantima Shanti.”

The participating teams for the District-level Dance Competition for Teej Celebration 2024 were :

1. Barfung Constituency

2. Poklok Kamrang Constituency

3. Namchi Singithang Constituency

4. Melli Constituency

5. Namthang Rateypani Constituency

6. Temi Namphing Constituency

7. Rangang Yangang Constituency

After a closely contested competition, the team from Rangang Yangang Constituency was declared the winner and will represent the district at the State-Level Teej Celebration.
