Namchi Zilla and Gram Panchayat Members holds Coordination Meeting for Drug-Free Activities
Namchi, Sept 3 (IPR): A preliminary coordination meeting between Zilla and Gram Panchayat members of Namchi District was held today at the Namchi Zilla Panchayat Bhawan.
The meeting, chaired by Ms. Anjeeta Rajalim Zilla Adhakshya (Namchi), aimed to discuss the outreach program for the Nasha Mukth Sikkim initiative.
Present during the meeting were Mr Bikash Tamang, Upa-Adhakshya (Namchi), along with Zilla and Panchayat members.
The primary goal was to ensure effective coordination between local bodies for the Nasha Mukth Sikkim campaign, scheduled for September 12, 2024, at the Blocks and GPUs.
Ms. Anjeeta Rai emphasized the significance of the Nasha Mukth Sikkim initiative, which is part of the Nasha Mukth Bharat Campaign, supported by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang.
She highlighted the crucial role of local representatives in executing the anti-drug campaign effectively at the grassroots level and encouraged collaboration with the Zilla Panchayats to engage the community in preventing substance abuse.
Mr. Arpan Subba, President Panchayat Temi Namphing GPU, discussed the challenges faced by drug users and the positive societal support needed to help them overcome addiction and improve their mental and physical health.
During the meeting various decisions were made including the active participation of all Gram Panchayat Units in the September 12 campaign, involving students, clubs, and NGOs focused on addiction awareness. Also various events to be organised such as awareness programs, rallies, and skits under the guidance of each GPU Panchayat President.
The Panchayat members also proposed various strategies and shared their experiences regarding anti-drug activities within their wards to ensure the campaign’s success.
