Training and Awareness Programme on Online Marking Order for Tree Felling
Namchi, 5 September (IPR): The Namchi Territorial Division Forest and Environment Department organised a training and awareness programme on the online marking order for tree felling at the District Forest Office in Namchi today.
The event was graced by the presence of Ms Anjeeta Rajalim Zilla Adhakshya Namchi, Ms Peggyla Venchugpa DFO (T) Namchi, Ms Angel Chettri DFO Wildlife Namchi, Ms Nirmala Moktan Additional Director Agricultural Department Namchi, Mr Chewang Tashi Bhutia Assistant Programmer, Zilla members from various GPU of the District and all BOs, ROs, Ward Panchayats and Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) committee members.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Anjeeta Rajalim expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from the DFO (T) and her team. She praised the initiative for raising awareness and providing training on the online marking and monitoring system for tree felling. She stated that such initiative is crucial for improving forest management and combating illegal logging.
Further, she highlighted the Chief Minister’s vision of conserving forests through schemes like ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati,’ which aims to plant 100 trees for every newborn in Sikkim to symbolise the bond between parent, child, and nature. She encouraged the Ward Panchayats to promote and implement this online portal for easier access to the procedure.
Ms Peggyla Venchugpa DFO (T) in her address, thanked Ms Anjeeta Rajalim the Zilla Adhakshya for her support and commended the JFMC committee for their dedication. She discussed the challenges associated with the lengthy process of obtaining marking orders for tree felling and underscored the importance of online portals in simplifying and streamlining this process to save time and costs.
Mr Chewang Tashi Bhutia, Assistant Programmer, delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the operation of the online portal. He demonstrated how to access the website via Markmytree.nic.in, which provides comprehensive information on registering for online marking of tree felling. He also noted the availability of animated YouTube tutorials for user guidance and emphasised the necessity of logging in with registered mobile numbers for secure registration.
The programme concluded with an interactive hands-on training session with the stakeholders, reinforcing the objectives and ensuring compliance with the approved plans.
