District-Level Coordination Meeting Enhances Aspirational Block Programme with Focus on Improving Science and Mathematics Education
Namchi, September 13 (IPR): A co-ordination meeting under Aspirational Block Programme for better performance in schools and institutions was successfully conducted today. The key focus of the meeting being the intervention by a Professional Learning Committee ( PLC) from teachers in Science and Mathematics background from around Namchi District.
The meeting was chaired by Ms Anupa Tamiling DC Namchi, Mr Suraj Rai CEO Education, Mr GP Sharma JD/ DEO Namchi, Mr SK Tewari AD/ Edu Namchi along with HOI’s and teachers from the district.
DC Namchi, in her address expressed the need to close gaps in learning outcomes and create holistic environment for students and educators. She raised her concern with students failing to avail above 60% especially in Science and Mathematics subjects in their board exam. She encouraged the HOI’s to identify the gaps and focus on the outcomes and the factors leading to students lagging in these subjects. She also stressed on the need for the immediate Set-up of Professional Learning Committee ( PLI) to monitor and navigate students in academic and their personal well-being.
Ms Methela Rai, Aspirational Block Fellow gave an overview of the Key Performance Indicators ( KPI’s) in her Power Point Presentation of students from Science and Mathematics background from around Namchi district, which was below average. She demonstrated data -driven decisions to achieve effective outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
The coordination meeting today also saw an interactive session between the chair and the HOI’s where many ideas and suggestions were addressed. It was also decided that that PLC would have a body of it’s own for better performance and future endeavours. The cumulative decision of the HOI’s and the teachers hence accorded, Mr Shekhar Chettri ( HOI) Kitam Sr. Secondary School as the Deputy leader and Ms Priya Lama ( HM) Kamrang Sr. Secondary School as the Vice Deputy Leader.
