A 28-day trekking guide course (BMC) commenced today at Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and EcoTourism (IHCAE), Chemchay
Namchi, 19th September (IPR): The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation conducts a 28-day Level 1 Trekking Guide Course (BMC) at the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and EcoTourism (IHCAE) in Chemchay today.
The program had the presence of Mr Kazi Sherpa Joint Director (Adventure)/Principal of IHCAE, Ms Lamin Theengh Deputy Director (Tourism), Mr Manoj Chettri Deputy Director (Adventure).
The training program has a total of 40 participants, with 29 sponsored by the Sikkim INSPIRES Program under the Tourism Department, while the remaining 11 are private candidates from various parts of India.
The 28-day course is led by Ms. Shanti Rai, Senior Instructor and Course In-charge. It is structured into four phases:
• 1st Phase: Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Sport Climbing, Jumaring and Trekking Trial at IHCAE.
• 2nd Phase: Acclimatisation Process and Practical on Hard Ice and Soft Snow – North Sikkim Glacier.
• 3rd Phase: Height Gain – Peak 18,000ft Plus.
• 4th Phase: Examination and Practical.
During the program, trainees were introduced to the instructors and briefed on the basic rules and regulations to be followed at IHCAE during their training. They were divided into four groups, with each group assigned one instructor.
