Poshan Maah Program Focuses on Anaemia Awareness

Namchi, 21 September: The Bermiok zone AWW, led by area supervisor Miss Jerilina Lepcha, proudly hosted a special event for Poshan Maah, centered on anaemia awareness. Esteemed guests included Panchayat President Smt. Sanki Bhutia, Vice President Shri Tara Chand Bajgai, Smt. Sophia Lepcha (AD Nutrition), Smt. Lhaphuti Sherpa (Health Educator), Shri Laxman Tamang (CDPO/NRP DPO/Poshan Abhiyaan), and Shri Sailendra Chhetri (DC/Poshan Abhiyaan), who shared valuable insights on the impact of anaemia, the ill effects of junk food, and the importance of nutrition.
A highlight of the event was the anaemia screening and growth monitoring conducted for students, aimed at raising awareness and promoting proactive health measures. Various millet-based dishes were prepared and served to guests and students. Attendees participated in interactive sessions, gaining knowledge about the significance of nutrition in preventing anaemia.
“We are committed to fostering a healthy environment for our students,” stated the chief guest, who also emphasized the importance of “Swachhata Hi Seva” during the event. Under this banner, members of the SHG and the 13 Bermiok Tokal GPU panchayat conducted a cleanliness drive at local schools.
The program concluded with a call to action for everyone to prioritize their nutritional health.
