Jorethang ICDS Project organises Poshan Maah Programme

Namchi, Sept 25 (IPR): Jorethang ICDS Project organised a Poshan Maah programme at the Community Hall in Jorethang, today.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr Madan Cintury MLA of 08 Zoom – Salghari, who was accompanied by Mr Pavitra Manav President of NJNP, as the Guest of Honour. Other notable attendees included Ms Monika Rai SDM Jorethang, Mr Migyur T Nadik SDPO Jorethang, Councillors and Officers from the Women & Child Development Department.
The MLA in his address expressed profound gratitude to Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang and the State Government for their unwavering support towards the department’s efforts in nurturing and developing children, as well as supporting women. He urged Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) to work diligently, providing education and knowledge essential for child development. The MLA reiterated his commitment to supporting the department’s initiatives throughout his administrative tenure.
Mr Pavitra Manav commended the department’s efforts under the Poshan Abhiyan to combat malnutrition. He acknowledged the significant contributions of AWWs and AWHs in nurturing children and supporting women. He also announced the upcoming construction of ‘Breast Feeding Pods’ in the Jorethang market area.
Ms Monika Rai in her speech elaborated on various initiatives undertaken by ICDS centres, highlighting their positive impact on children’s futures. She also encouraged the promotion of diverse nutritious cuisines to foster a healthy lifestyle.
Mr Joshua Lama, DPO of WCDD, expressed gratitude towards the Area MLA for his continued support to the department and the ICDS team. He detailed the high level of community participation in Jorethang and noted that out of 1308 Anganwadi Centres in the state, 71 operate under Jorethang. He also provided insights into the functioning of ICDS, including its nutritional and educational benefits for children.
Mr Sangay Bhutia, Principal of Anganwadi Centre WCDD, thanked the State Government for its support in making the 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah Abhiyan a success. He outlined the extensive network of ICDS, comprising 13 projects across the state, with numerous personnel dedicated to ensuring nutritional benefits for women and children.
He highlighted the introduction of mobile phones equipped with the Poshan Tracker Application at ICDS centres, which aids in monitoring nutritional feeding and healthcare services.
The Poshan Maah programme was a resounding success, demonstrating the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in promoting child nutrition and women’s health in Jorethang. The commitment shown by all parties involved promises a brighter future for the community.
