Namchi Block Celebrates Jal Utsav: A Community Initiative for Water Conservation
Namchi, 7 November (IPR) : Namchi Block observed Jal Utsav, an initiative aimed at enhancing the management and preservation of local water resources.
This event brought together members of the community to engage in safeguarding and maintenance of Jal Sampada (water assets) across 10 Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs).
Over 50 households actively participated in this event, demonstrating their commitment to preserving water resources. The programme included the Jal Utsav Oath, where participants pledged to take responsibility for water conservation and sustainable usage in their daily lives.
The initiative involved several crucial activities to ensure the sustainability of water systems, including:
1. Chlorination Checks: Ensuring that chlorination levels in the water supply were adequate for safe consumption.
2. Leakage Detection and Prevention: Identifying and addressing any leaks within the water supply network to prevent wastage and ensure efficient water distribution.
3. Cleaning of Jal Sampada Assets: A thorough cleaning campaign to maintain the quality of the water sources and related infrastructure across the 10 Gram Panchayat Units.
