Hon’ble Governor’s Two-Day Visit to Namchi District Concludes
Namchi, 9th November 2024 (IPR) – The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Mr Om Prakash Mathur, concluded his two-day visit to Namchi district today.
On the second day of his visit, the Hon’ble Governor was accompanied by Mr Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia MLA Ravang-Burfung, Mr JD Bhutia Secretary to Raj Bhavan, Mr Subash Ghimirey ADC (HQ), and other officials from Namchi district.
The Hon’ble Governor visited Kapinzel Children’s Home in Ravangla. Here, he reviewed the operations of the home and praised the efforts of the NGOs and various departments contributing to its success. The Governor expressed his strong commitment to supporting the children’s home, inquiring about it funding and ensuring that it adequately meets the needs of the children residing there.
The Governor also visited the Rabong-Sangmoo Self-Help Group Village Federation’s bakery and outlet, where he engaged with local members. He was introduced to a range of eco-friendly products produced by the group, including sanitary pads, napkins, candles, and other items. The Governor appreciated the initiative, noting the importance of such sustainable, community-driven efforts.
In addition to his community engagements, the Governor visited the Buddha Park, where he offered prayers before attending a meeting with local Panchayat members and ASHA workers in the park’s conference hall. During the meeting, Panchayat and ASHA workers raised several issues pertaining to the Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs). The Governor assured them of his support and pledged to work towards resolving these concerns.
Earlier in the day, the Governor visited Siddheshwar Dham and Sanduptse in Namchi, where he offered prayers and paid his respects.
The Governor’s visit to Namchi district was marked by meaningful interactions with local communities and a reaffirmation of his support for the region’s development.
The Governor expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in the district and reiterated his commitment to further enhancing the welfare of its people.
