MLA Namchi-Singithang Constituency chairs coordination cum interactive meeting with the Head of Offices
Namchi, Nov 15 ( IPR) : Mr Satish Chandra Rai MLA Namchi- Singithang Constituency chaired a meeting with the Head of Offices from various line departments at the District Administrative Centre, today.
The meeting had the presence of Ms Sabitri Tamang Vice Chairman Namchi Municipal Corporation( NMC), Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, Dr TN Gyatso Sr SP Namchi, Ms Tirsang Tamang ADC Namchi, Mr Nim Pintso Bhutia SDM (HQ), Mr Saran Kalikotey SDM Namchi, Mr Prabin Gurung SDM Namthang and Officers from various line departments.
The first coordination meeting commenced with a discussion centred on the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay, to transform Namchi into a Vibrant and Civilized District. The meeting aimed to address the critical areas of concern, including cleanliness and Infrastructure of the town, while emphasizing the importance of discipline and coordination.
MLA Shri Satish Chandra stressed the need to maintain discipline both in personal and professional spheres. He highlighted punctuality and sincerity as the essential pillars for the development of a progressive society.
The meeting further saw the necessity of establishing a coordinated and systematic approach to tackle the town’s challenges effectively.
He expressed his commitment to address the grievances of the people and work for the betterment of Namchi and its residents. He encouraged all employees to set a high benchmark of professionalism and work collaboratively to build a disciplined and progressive civic society.
The meeting saw some key discussions wherein the MLA had an interactive discussion firstly with the HoOs from Agriculture and Farming Department . He emphasised on rejuvenating the culture of farming, deploying more farming squads to identify barren lands , reviving the lands through improved cultivation methods and modern farming techniques.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with delays in completing of projects under the Smart City Initiative . He called for immediate action to expedite pending works and instructed regular site inspections to ensure timely project completion.
He also raised his concern over issues relating to potholes and improper drainage systems in and around Namchi, wherein he advised proper coordination between the Stakeholders, NGO’s and Municipal Authorities to address these problems effectively.
The issue with Public behavior and Civic Awareness was also addressed. He raised concerns over illegal parking of cars, public littering and spitting in public areas. He advised on stricter action to be taken to improve civic behavior. He encouraged the general public to be more aware of Government schemes and take full advantage of the facilities available.
Also, matters like Social and Urban concerns were also discussed. The issue with stray dogs and beggars was highlighted. He directed the Department of Animal Husbandry and Social Welfare to carefully look into this rising concern and locate them to shelter homes respectively.
A proposal for a designated Labour Zone was also discussed where an identified space for porters and daily wage earners would be given for them to rest and work altogether, without crowding the town area.
He discussed about the formation of a new initiative , “ Team Namchi”, with the theme I Love Namchi. Which will focus primarily on the town’s development and Welfare.
Lastly, he addressed the growing concern over chronic water shortage in Namchi . The cause of the concern attributed to illegal water collections and non payment of water Revenue. Hence, The MLA has ordered for an immediate investigation into the above concerns.
In the closing remark he thanked the residents of Namchi-Singithang Constituency for their unwavering support and promised to work tirelessly for the public of Namchi. He expressed a vision to transform Namchi into a flourishing and model district.
The DC in her address urged all the HoOs to act responsibly and ensure seamless cooperation and communication across departments.
The Sr SP highlighted traffic congestion issues caused by narrow roads, illegal parking, and increased commuter activity. He recommended systematic parking systems and innovative engineering solutions to interlink congested areas, particularly around Badri Phatak. Despite challenges, the Sr SP applauded Namchi’s strong law and order record, expressing optimism about it’s potential for further development.
The meeting ended with a collective commitment to work towards the betterment of Namchi.
