District Level Vigilance Committee(DLVC) Namchi hosts a meeting at NDZP

Namchi, December 3(IPR): Ms Anjita Rajalim Zilla Adhakshya Namchi cum Chairperson District Level Vigilance Committee chaired a meeting on the District Level Vigilance Forum cum the Consumer Protection Act at the conference Hall of Namchi District Zilla Panchayat (NDZP) today.
The meeting had the presence of Mr Bikash Tamang Upadhakshya, Ms Tirsang Tamang ADC Namchi, Mr Tenzing Bhutia DCSO Food and Civil Supplies Department, Mr Dilip Kumar Pradhan Former Director cum member of Consumer Forum along with the Zilla Panchayats, Panchayat Presidents, Officers and Staff from NDZP.
While addressing the gathering, Ms Anjita Rajalim expressed her gratitude for organising the District Level Vigilance Meeting as it is the first of its kind in the entire state. She emphasised the importance of understanding the categories that one belongs and stressed that each household must maintain proper cards in order to avail governmental benefits.
She also urged all departments to focus on ensuring efficient delivery of services and benefits to the public and highlighted on various state government schemes and encouraged to utilise them for the betterment of the communities.
In addition, she motivated everyone to work collectively for the welfare of the people as Team Sikkim, reinforcing the shared responsibility to drive progress and development of the district.
Mr Tenzing Bhutia DCSO Namchi elaborated on the key objectives of the meeting. He emphasised on the importance of the National Food Security Act 2013 (NFSA) and the implementation of various schemes under NFSA.
He highlighted the technical aspects of biometric authentication to which he informed the attendees to disseminate information to the public regarding the eKYC and the deadline for applying for eKYC is 31 December 2024.
He further underscored the significance of the Ration Card Management System and detailed the various categories such as Antyodaya (AAY),Priority Household (PHH )and Other Priority Household(OPH), highlighting the benefits the government provides through these classifications.
Ms Albina Gurung ASI addressed the Consumer Protection Act, wherein she explained that this act covers all goods and services across public, private and cooperative sectors. She outlined the process for consumers to file complaints, emphasising that the act provides a platform for grievance redressal and ensures compensation for consumers who experience issues with suppliers.
Additionally, she discussed the various consumer rights and responsibilities, empowering consumers to make informed choices and seek redressal when necessary.
During the meeting, Mr CK Gurung Zilla Panchayat member for the Tirgrithang-Damthang Territorial Constituency, voluntarily surrendered his PHH (Priority Household) card. He stated that the card should be given to a genuine household in need. His gesture was applauded by the house for his commendable act.
The meeting also included an open discussions on various issues faced by the public and their grievances were addressed by the DSCO Namchi.
