Chief Minister Attends Losoong Namsoong Celebrations in Ravangla

Namchi, January 6 (IPR): Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Golay honoured the final day of Losoong Namsoong Celebrations in Ravangla, today.
The event also had the presence of Mr M N Sherpa Speaker SLA, Ms Raj Kumari Thapa Deputy Speaker SLA, Mr Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia Area MLA Barfung Constituency, Mr Sanjeev Kharel MLA Namthang Rateypani Constituency, Mr Satish Chandra Rai MLA 11th Namchi-Singithang, Mr Aditya Golay MLA Soreng Chakung Constituency, Mr Samdup Tshering Lepcha Chairman STS, Ms Tshering Palden Bhutia Deputy Mayor Gangtok Municipal Council, Ms Anjeeta Rajalim Zilla Adhakshya Namchi District, Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi, Mr Karma Gyatso Bhutia Sr. SP Namchi District, Mr Phurba Wangdi Bhutia MD SBS, Ex MLAs, Panchayats HoOs, Organising Committee and Public at large.
The Chief Minister, in his address, announced several initiatives aimed at development across the state.
To assist medical patients, a new guest house is being constructed in Siliguri to ease accommodation challenges. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting medical patients through the Chief Minister Medical Assistance Scheme.
He assured those who have received allotment orders for new houses before the General election 2024, the construction will commence soon.
For entrepreneurship, he expressed his support for individuals seeking opportunities in this sector and encouraged them to thrive with the government’s assistance.
He announced the formation of a State-Level Planning Monitoring and Development Committee to focus on infrastructure, tourism, health, sports, and education. He urged the formation of a nine-member Constituency-Level Planning Monitoring and Developmental Committee to draft detailed blueprints to the state committee for development projects.
The Veterinary Ground, Ravangla currently used for the Losoong-Namsoong celebration will be constructed into a district-level alternative stadium.
To promote tourism, the he proposed organising a grand tourism festival in Ravangla inviting international guests.
He also announced plans for a new ropeway connecting Ravangla to Maenamla to enhance tourism in the region.
Further, he extended an invitation to everyone for the upcoming Maghe Mela 2025, scheduled from January 14 to 21 in Jorethang.
Mr Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia, Area MLA in his address, highlighted the government’s ongoing developmental initiatives in the region. He acknowledged the repair work on Damthang to Ravangla road which will significantly enhance tourism flow in Ravangla.
He also mentioned other road projects and developmental efforts, such as the upgradation of the Kewzing PHSC to PHC and the Repair, Renovation, and Restoration of Cho Dzo Lake in Ravangla, alongside other projects.
To boost employment, he noted that the government is focusing on implementing various central schemes, including the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, and the UNNATI scheme.
During the event, Chief Minister Discretionary Grants (CMDGs) were distributed:
Rs 7,50,000 for toilet construction at Borong hotspring.
Rs 5,00000 for ground construction at Government Secondary School, Kateng.
Rs 5,00000 for renovation of the Shiva Shakti Dham Shivalaya Mandir in Namthang.
Rs 9,47,700 for maintenance of the 14 Mile playground by the Losoong Namsoong Committee.
The event featured the final matches of the Inter-Territorial Constituency Women’s Football Match and Men’s Football Match.
Tinkitam Girls FC defeated Burfung Girls FC, while Upper Burfung FC won against Singling Sporting Club with a score of 2–1.
Cultural plays and dances were also performed during the celebrations.
