10th Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Tournament kicks-off at Jorethang.
Namchi, 9 January (IPR): The first match of the 10th Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Tournament kicked-off at football stadium, Jorethang, today. The tournament is hoisted by Namchi District Football Association in association with Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Sikkim Football Association and Maghey Sankranti Mela organising committee.
Mr Raju Basnet, Minister, Sports & Youth Affairs department and Education Department, was seated as the Chief Guest for the event.
Accompanying the Minister were Mr Madan Cintury MLA Zoom-Salghari Constituency and the Chief Patron for Maghey Sankranti Mela, Mr N B Pradhan MLA Melli Constituency, Mr Biren Chandra Rai Advisor SBS, Mr Yougen Tamang Press Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr M T Sherpa Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Ms Annapurna Alley Secretary IPR Department, Mr Pavitra Manav President NJNP, Mrs Manjari Rai Vice President NJNP, Panchayats NJNP, Ms Monika Rai SDM Jorerthang, Mr Dilip Dong MEO NJNP, Officers from line departments, Members from Sikkim Football Association and Mr Nirmal Chettri, Former Indian Footballer.
The first match was played between ASUFI FA Manipur and Singling Sporting Club, where Singling Sporting Club emerged victorious scoring five goals against the opponent during the penalty shootout.
Earlier, the trophy to be awarded to the winning team was unveiled by the Minister after hoisting the flag for the tournament.
Additionally various cultural performances were also presented during the course of the match.
