Damthang GPU Hosts Gram Sabha under Namchi BAC
Namchi, 9 January (IPR): The Damthang Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) held its Gram Sabha today at the auditorium of Damthang GPK, presided over by Panchayat President Ms Jyoti Rai.
The event was honoured by the esteemed presence of Mr Bhoj Raj Rai Minister for the Urban Development Department and Food and Civil Supplies Department.
Present during the Gram Sabha were Zilla Panchayat Members, Panchayat Members, Former Chairman, officers from various line departments, as well as the Assistant Director and staff of GPK.
The meeting commenced with the arrival of the Chairperson. Subsequently, the Ward Panchayat presented the plans under the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) and the Labour Budget of MGNREGA, outlining the progress and future strategies for community development.
The Assistant Director cum Panchayat Sachiva provided valuable insights into the importance of the Sanitation Certificate and Water User Charges. He emphasised how these measures contribute to improved resource management and the efficient delivery of public services.
During the meeting, departmental officers addressed various queries raised by the public. Notably, BDO Namchi Mr Upendra Rai, elaborated on works related to the GPDP and MGNREGA schemes. He urged the public to pay the Water User Charges and other GPU fees, explaining that these funds help raise the Own Source Revenue (OSR), which is subsequently used to develop public utilities.
In his address, Mr Bhoj Raj Rai urged the community to refrain from subletting trade licences to outsiders. Instead, he encouraged local residents to start their own businesses, assuring them that the government provides both financial and technical support to such initiatives.
Additionally, he emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards in construction work and ensuring maximum government benefits reach the people. He concluded by expressing his gratitude for being invited to attend the Gram Sabha.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Panchayat President Ms Jyoti Rai, who expressed her sincere gratitude to all attendees for their participation and contributions, ensuring the success of the Gram Sabha.
