Rongbul GPU under Namchi Block conducts Annual Gram Sabha

Namchi, 10January (IPR): Rongbul GPU, under Namchi Block, conducted its Annual Gram Sabha meeting.
The session was held to adopt the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) and the Labour Budget under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The event was presided over by the Panchayat President Ms Shova Manger with the esteemed presence of Mr Satish Chandra Rai MLA of 11-Namchi Singithang Constituency.
The gathering was graced by several distinguished guests, including Zilla Panchayat, Former Chairman Mr Tashi Tamang, Former Chairman Ms Roma Tamang, Ward Panchayats, ADC (Dev), BDO, Officers from various Line Departments, Assistant Director and Staff of GPK
The Gram Sabha commenced with the arrival of the Panchayat President followed by a presentation of the plans by the respective Ward Panchayats. This provided the platform for a detailed discussion on the development strategies and priorities for the community.
Mr. Upendra Rai BDO Namchi, gave an informative presentation on the significance of Other Sources of Revenue (OSR). He explained that OSR refers to the sum of money collected as fees for services rendered through recommendations by the Panchayat.
Additionally, he outlined the planning process for the preparation of the GPDP, highlighting the importance of the People’s Plan Campaign and the conducting of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercises followed by Ward Sabhas in each ward.
In his address, Mr Satish Chandra Rai Area MLA assured the public that he would take all necessary steps to fulfil the demands raised by both the Panchayat and the local residents. He reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Namchi, stating his willingness to work alongside the community for their betterment.
Furthermore, he encouraged NGOs, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), civil society members, and local clubs to actively participate in the development of the Rongbul GPU. He emphasised the need for high-quality work by all departments to ensure sustainable progress.
The Gram Sabha concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice-President Mr Raju Gurung, who expressed gratitude to all the attendees and dignitaries for their participation and support in making the event a success.
