3rd match of 10th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament held at Jorethang

Namchi, Jan 11 (IPR): The third match for the 10th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament was played between Namchi United and George Telegraph Kolkata.
Mr Puran Kumar Gurung, Minister Agriculture Dept, Horticulture Dept, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Dept and Fisheries Development Dept, graced the event as the Chief Guest and Mr Bhoj Raj Rai, Minister Urban Developmemt Dept and Food & Civil Supplies Dept as the Guest of Honour.
Accompanying the Chief Guest were Mr Yougen Tamang, Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr Pavitra Manav, President NJNP, Mrs Manjari Rai, Vice President NJNP, Panchayats NJNP, Ms Monika Rai, SDM Jorethang,and Officers from line departments.
With a score of one goal each during the completion of the match, the decider was played off by a penalty shoot-out. With a total score of 7 to 6 goals, George Telegraph Kolkata emerged victorious and advanced to the next game.
Mr Rajen Oroan (C), from the winning team, George Telegraph Kolkata was awarded the title of Man of the Match for the day.
The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour were also presented with souvenirs by Namchi District Football Association. The match also witnessed an array of cultural performances during the course of the match.
It is to be mentioned that Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Tournament is played in adherence to the guidelines laid down by All India Football Federation, as the tournament is now a part of AIFF league matches.
Accordingly, the tournament is hosted by Namchi District Football Association in association with Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Sikkim Football Association and Maghey Sankranti Mela organising committee.
