The fourth match of 10th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Tournament kicks-off at Jorethang.
Namchi, Jan 12 (IPR): The fourth match of the 10th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament was kicked-off and played between Jhapa XI Nepal and GTA XI Darjeeling, at football stadium, Jorethang, today.
Mr Satish Chandra Rai, MLA Namchi-Singhithang Constituency, graced the occassion as the Chief Guest.
Accompanying the Chief Guest were Mr Madan Cintury MLA Salghari-Zoom Constituency and the Chief Patron for Maghey Sankranti Mela, Mr Biren Chandra Rai Advisor SBS, Mr Pavitra Manav President NJNP, Ms Manjari Rai Vice President NJNP, Panchayats NJNP, Ms Monika Rai SDM Jorerthang, Officers from line departments and Mr Nirmal Chettri Former Indian Footballer.
With a score of one goal each after the full-time whistle, the match proceeded for a tie breaker with a penalty shoot-out. Further, with a total score of 5 to 3 goals, Jhapa XI Nepal advanced to the next game after defeating their opponent.
Mr Ashish Gurung, of the winning team, Jhapa XI Nepal, was awarded with the title of Man of the Match for the day.
The Chief Guest was also presented with souvenirs by Namchi District Football Association. The match also witnessed an array of cultural performances during the course of the match.
The tournament is hosted by Namchi District Football Association in association with Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Sikkim Football Association and Maghey Sankranti Mela organising committee and is played in adherence to the guidelines laid down by AIFF.
