Mr Om Prakash Mathur Governor of Sikkim inaugurates the age-old Maghey Sakranti Mela of Jorethang

Namchi, Jan 14 (IPR): The Maghey Sakranti Mela, which marks an annual event in the calender, that showcases the richness and diversity of Sikkimese identity commences today at Jorethang.
Mr Om Prakash Mathur, the Governor of Sikkim, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, declared the opening of the mela who was accompanied by Mr Prem Singh Tamang, the Chief Minister of Sikkim as the Guest of Honour. Present amongst others were, Madam Krishna Rai alongwith Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Advisors, Chairpersons and other officials from the Government of Sikkim.
This year, the Mela features variety of attraction to witness alongside the traditional arts and culture offering. The mela offers Bangey Bazaar, Creative Hub, Orange Street, Cinema Ghar, Flower Exhibition, Job Mela cum CXO Meet, SARAS Mela and many more. Adventure enthusiast can also enjoy sports including, paragliding, Helicopter Joy ride, Lingey ping, boating etc. The event which started today will continue till 21st January.
