Press Release from the Office of ADC(Dev) Ravangla, Namchi District

Visit of Shri Dushyant Pariyar, Secretary, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI), in Namchi District.
Namchi, 20 February: Shri Dushyant Pariyar, Secretary PRI along with Shri Virat Pradhan, Coordinator Panchayat were on official tour in Ravangla Subdivision under Namchi District .
The main purpose of the visit are to physically verify the progress of construction of Gram Prashashan Kendra (GPK) and to have interaction with the Hon’ble Panchayats and Field Officers and staff to have greater insight of the potential and issues of the Local Self Government in the State.
The visit started with a brief meeting with ADC Dev Ravangla, BDOs and the Block representatives in the Office of ADC Development Ravangla. The main points raised during the meeting were:
1) Need for rationalization of the newly appointed staff postings at the Blocks and Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) to overcome staff shortage at various offices.
2) Urgent Utilisation of Fifteenth Finance Commission Fund by the GPUs.
3) Review and evenly allocation of number of GPUs to ADs PRI.
4) Need for new Gram Prashashan Kendra (GPK) at Sanganth.
5) Requirement of Accounts staff at the Office of ADC Dev Ravangla.
6) Fencing at BAC, Ravangla and Office of ADC Dev Ravangla.
The Secretary then visited the GPK Construction Site for 51- Rabong Barfung GPU. It was found that construction of the GPK has been completed and handing taking from the contractor is awaited. The Hon’ble Panchayat Members placed the demand of vertical extension of the GPK building to the Secretary PRI.
Thereafter the Secretary along with ADC Development and BDO Ravangla visited the on-going construction site of 51-Tinkitam Rayong GPK. It was found that about 80% of the construction work has been completed.
Sighting the problem of small area for construction of GPK and lack of Hall for conduction of Gram Sabha, the Hon’ble Panchayats of the GPU also placed the demand for vertical extension of the new GPK.
The Secretary PRI and his team also visited the existing GPK being run from RCC Building of the Department of Horticulture. During the entire tour Shri Dushyant Pariyar, Secretary PRI was accompanied by Shri Sunil Morhay, ADC Dev Ravangla, Shri DP Dahal, BDO Ravangla, Shri Virat Pradhan, Panchayat Coordinator, RDD, Smt Priya Dahal, Panchayat Inspector BAC Ravangla, Sarita Thatal, Coordinator BAC Ravangla.
